The Art of Poi has been in Ase’s life the longest of all the other spinning props. Since late 2006, when Ase picked up he instantly knew it would be a part of his life. He continues to grow everyday and share the art with as many possible.
A Brief History of Poi:
The history of poi dates back to many areas. The most occuring story dates back to the Māori people in New Zealand. Rough translation of “Poi” means ball on string. Women used it for dance, and then when men were home training for war, they picked up the prop and started honing their physical strength as well as accuracy. No one is quite sure who exactly lit the prop on fire first. But you can be assured that Ase is truely happy that they did!
